Steve Reames earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1979, and is currently freeland circuit design consultant. He has been caving since he was thirteen and has been a member of the National Speleological Society since 1985. He is currently Director of the Colorado Cave Rescue Network.

Lawrence Fish earned a B.S. in Psychology in 1973 from Loretto Heights College and now works as a computer programer. He has been exploring caves since 1957. He has published articles on computer science, folk music, and psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the National Speleological Society and a member of the Colorado Grotto.

Paul Burger earned a B.S. in Geology in 1991 and an M.S. in Hydrology in 1998 from the Colorado School of Mines, and is currently undertaking independent karst research. He has done extensive exploration and study in Wind Cave and Jewel Cave, and has published numerous articles about caves. He is a Fellow of the National Speleological Society and is currently President of the Front Range Grotto.

Patricia Kambesis earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois in 1974 and a B.S. in Geology from Southern Illinois University in 1982, and is working as a cartographer. She has been surveying and mapping caves for twenty-four years. She is a former director of the Lechuguilla Cave Project, Inc., and is currently president of the Cave Research Foundation. She is a Fellow of the National Speleological Society from which she has received the Lew Bicking Award and other awards for her cartography.
